I have been asked multiple times about my skincare. What I use at night and in the morning on an everyday basis. I have been consistent on my skincare for about 2 years. I have struggled with acne since middle school. (Not fun). I am finally happy with my complexion and my products. There are a few keys about skincare. Most of us do not stick with a product long enough to fully know the benefits. Also, when trying a new product you could have a “purging” time. That is where you are getting rid of dead old skin and cleaning out your pores which will make your face breakout. You must go through the process before your skin will fully heal. Trust me this process is by no means fun and makes you want to quite but sometimes necessary for long term results you are looking for.
The products I use may not be what works for you. Everyone is different and responds to things differently. Keep that in mind. My biggest advice is to find a dermatologist or esthetician you trust and have them guide you through the process. I HIGHLY recommend Sasha Baldwin at Spa Maison in Lake Charles. (If you would like her contact information DM me) She has been a God send. She gives personal facials to fit your skin needs. I try and get a facial every 6 weeks. This has helped tremendously. I give all credit for my skincare routine and results to her. She will give you recommendations according to your needs. To sum it all up RUN don’t walk and go see her or someone else in your area who can help you the same way.
I wash my face every night and every morning. I do not wear makeup on an everyday basis. Only when going to an event or church. If I do have any makeup on my face I will use a makeup remover towelette before washing. I use the Neutrogena brand. This is to get my eye makeup off before cleansing my face.
My face wash is SkinCeuticals LHA cleansing gel. I use this face wash night and morning. This face wash is targeted for oily or problematic skin. I love SkinCeuticals. They offer other face washes. I would research others and read reviews if interested in one for your skin type.
My morning and night routine look a little different. Which they should. I will start off with night routine. Wash face with SkinCeuticals LHA cleansing. Next I use Tretinoin Cream. Which is a form on Retin-A. Most people start it for Acne but actually it is a huge anti again product. Retin-A is actually the only thing proven to improve cellular function of aged and photo damaged skin. You can not use this every night to begin with. It will dry out your skin. Start off slow and work your way up.
Next, I moisturize with EltaMD PM therapy. This repairs and restores elasticity and vitality. I do need to talk to the oily girls out there. I am one of you. High school days: acne and oily skin. I didn’t dare put lotion on my skin! I mean ugh I would be even more greasy and who knows what my acne would have done? WRONG I was so wrong! You must moisturize. When you do not use it your skin is actually trying to keep up and over produces oils.
Lastly, I use a spot treatment if needed (my husbands fav! Ha) I use the DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask. If could be a full face mask but I only spot treatment with it and it works wonders!
In the morning I cleanse my face with SkinCeuticals LHA cleansing gel. I then apply Image Skincare VITAL C. (You can also purchase this from Sasha) This is a hydrating anti-aging serum. This serum softens the appearance of wrinkles, supports collagen, and protects skin again oxidative damage. If you currently do not have a serum worked into your skincare routine I would add it. This is for all skin types.
Next, I moisturize with EltaMD AM therapy. You will notice night time was a PM therapy. I little thicker and heavier for night time. The AM therapy is a lighter moisturizer for day time.
Lastly, I apply SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense Sunscreen. This is a SPF of 50. All your skincare upkeep and money you spend is pointless if you do not protect your skin from UV rays. You must use a SPF daily. This sunscreen is tinted and very thin. Like be careful when you pour some out. You will get more than you bargained for. Also, when ordering this sunscreen there are 2 types. Read the writing. I recommend the Physical Fusion for the tinted matter. The other comes in white.
I believe in protecting and preventing before it is too late. If you have any questions or if you have some must have beauty secrets, let us know !
